  1. I don’t know about you, but for me, proofreading is a heck of a lot harder than writing. Writing is fun; proofreading is drudgery, which is probably why I don’t proofread it as I should. Grammarly Premium helps, but it sometimes creates as many problems as it solves.

    1. I’m not sure that I see it as separate. It’s a piece of the needed steps in getting a story to be the best it can be. If I want to be a writer, I HAVE to embrace proofing, editing, cutting the unnecessary, reshaping, marketing, etc.

99.99999% of life is filled with tasks like taking out the garbage, laundry, and cleaning the toilet. They are boring. As soon as they’re done, you are preparing to do these tasks again. Nobody really LIKES them. If you do these tasks, nobody notices. If you don’t do these tasks, EVERYBODY notices.

Part of being an adult is giving these tasks into the rearview mirror. I mean, seriously. Scrubbing the toilet takes a few minutes, even if you have let it get ridiculously nasty. You can either get it done, or stress and moan for hours. Either way, the toilet needs to be done and you have to do it. Quit investing in misery and leave yourself the energy to actually have a life.
